Arrival
The teacher will arrive 15 minutes prior to the first class of the day. It is important that students arrive early to ensure that they are properly prepared for their class. Any student arriving late to class may be asked to observe rather than participate; this is for their own safety. As with any athletic activity, a thorough warm-up is crucial to avoid injury.
Recital
As Dance is a Performing Art, the Annual Recital is an important part of our process. Costumes are to be purchased for the recital, and we will hold rehearsals during the last 15 minutes of class throughout the spring. Attendance for dress rehearsal is mandatory for all those participating in the performance. Dancing in the Recital is not obligatory, but we strongly encourage this experience for all our students.
Performance
Certain classes/workshops will have their own performances for family and friends.
Absence/Withdrawal
Parents must notify teachers regarding student’s withdrawal from class, missed classes, etc. Please call 607-221-3985 if you plan to be absent.
Studio Policies
Everyone—all students and non-students—must follow Cooperstown Performing Arts Dance Studio Rules posted on the walls and in the waiting area. Students must be appropriately dressed in dance outfits and must be respectful of the teachers, other students, and the studio surroundings.
Photography
Students are photographed throughout the year in the studio. These photos become our school’s property and may be used in the newspaper and/or advertisements.
Closings
We mainly follow Cooperstown School District closings. Our school closing due to inclement weather will be announced on the radio (WZOZ) Announcements will be made via email. If you are unsure, you may call 607-221-3985 for a recording. Snow days or rescheduled classes will be made up within one month's time.
